Michelangelo. Six masterpieces - Amalfi (SA) until November 22
October 8th, 2009 | by Joseph C. | It opened on August 29, 2009 the exhibition "Michelangelo. Six masterpieces "architectural complex housed in the Arsenal of the Republic of Amalfi, Salerno. The exhibition, curated by Dr. Pina Accountants, will remain open until November 22, 2009.
On display are six drawings by Michelangelo, from the Collection of the Casa Buonarroti:
- First project for the facade of San Lorenzo in Florence (1516)
- Two studies from an antique Venus (1525)
- Study for the door from the vestibule to the reading room of the Laurentian Library in San Lorenzo in Florence (1526)
- Design of a bastion for a port (1527)
- Study of figures in motion (1534)
- Cleopatra (1535)
These drawings come from the collection of drawings by Michelangelo in the Casa Buonarroti, are evidence of some defining moments in the career of Michelangelo. The center of the exhibition is the portrait of Cleopatra as a result of a restoration, in the 80s, came to light another image of Cleopatra on the other side of the sheet.
Both representations will be visible on display, thanks to a special frame that allows the glass by the double exposure of both sides of the sheet.
The exhibition "Michelangelo. Six masterpieces " was conducted by the Cultural Metamorphoses in collaboration with the town of Amalfi.
