Exhibition in Forli: Canova. The classic ideal between sculpture and painting

The exhibition traces the artistic experience Neoclassical Antonio Canova, through 160 sculptures and paintings, represented by marbles, plasters, carvings, sketches, paintings and drawings. The masterpieces of Canova are confronted with important works by Raphael, Titian and artists active in the last eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.
Much of the iconography has its origin in Greek classical and Hellenistic periods: the exhibition's often compared to the neoclassical work with his ancient model, and is, for example, the case of Hebe all'Arianna inspired with the panther and the Dancer Tivoli.
Promoted by the Savings Bank Foundation of Forlì, the outfit has been edited by Antonio Paolucci, Fernando Mazzocca and Sergei Androsov and developed by Wilmotte and Alessandro Lucchi.
